Today has been a real WTF kind of day. Work was ok (a lot of hard work) but I may be getting a raise soon (hopefully). Then my girlfriend tells me her boss quit- the day after she (my girlfriend) handed in her two-week notice. So we go shopping for a dress for St. Louis and she finds one- for a whopping $8. Now, I’m watching the Yankees struggle to score a single run over 13 innings while Jen lies passed out not 2 feet away.

And oh by the way, tomorrow is Orientation, so I have work until 6:30. I start at 9am. Can’t wait to see what the day brings!

Seriously, last night was so depressing I felt like I needed to drink myself to sleep. However, there was a positive message out of all of it. So here goes.

I went to a graduation party last night, and I got to spend time with some amazing people, many of whom are on tumblr and follow me. So if any of you guys read this, I want you to know that I love you (and don’t worry, this isn’t a suicide note, I’m fine I promise).

Anyway, I was watching the Rangers play, and I left the party after the third period before overtime started. I made it home in time to watch the end of the first overtime and the entire second OT, where the Kings won. The loss killed me.

Then, while I slept, I had a horrible dream: My girlfriend of almost 20 months cheated on me. I was heartbroken.

Now the positive message: I realize that even though I am a huge hockey fan, a die-hard Rangers fan, and en employee of Madison Square Garden, there are plenty of worse things in life that losing a hockey game, even if it isin the Stanley Cup Finals. So I’m not going to let this loss get me down. It’s just a game.

I am not usually one to get heavily involved in social issues, but after seeing all the pro-Elliot Rodger pages and comments on the Internet, I cannot sit by with my mouth shut. That young man is not a martyr, or a tragic hero. He was a MONSTER. A cold, heartless monster.

Because of Elliot, 7 families lost sons and daughters. 7 young men and women will never get to live out their hopes and dreams. And yet people- sick, disgusting people- praise him as though there had been something to prevent this tragedy from happening.

Ladies, please do not blame yourselves for this disaster. And guys, don’t get down if you can’t find a girl. So Elliot Rodger was 22 and had never kissed a woman. SO WHAT? Why would anyone want to rush into something just to do it? It’s like buying a car because all your friends did, and you only did it to fit in. Especially if the car you paid for was an old junker with 190,000 miles, worn breaks and a bad transmission.

My point, guys, is that Elliot Rodger was a psychopath. His death was preventable because of one person- himself. He could have just waited for the right woman, but instead he felt the need to lash out at blameless UCSB students.

Violence is never the answer guys. Just talk. There’s always someone willing to listen.

A huge thank you Andrew Shapiro for 3 years of being the “Voice of the Pioneers”. Congrats on graduation! shapiro10

This is really asking a lot, but I really want to know how many people are in the hockey fandom. So if you are, please reblog this ONCE and only once. It’ll be more accurate this way

I was born into the fandom
